For many, the holiday season is all about giving. Residents of River Valley Place of Ottumwa are connecting with the community by launching their very first Giving Tree this holiday season!
Thanks to the residents, family members and community members, the first round of donations have already been decorated on the Giving Tree, which will benefit those in need.
The public is invited to visit the Giving Tree located at River Valley Place of Ottumwa (173 E Rochester Road, Ottumwa, IA 52501). You will be able to make a donation or choose a gift off of the giving tree, no questions asked.
What are the best donations?
While most of us think of a thick winter coat to stay warm, hats and gloves are crucial for protecting your body from the cold this winter. Plus, hats and gloves tend to get lost easily. They would be great for a Giving Tree donation.
Christine Cross
Operations Specialist for Better Living Management “We have a lot of students that come in and sing and participate in activities with our residents. So they thought a giving tree with mittens and hats would be great!” |
Darian Johnson
Activity Director “Our residents love Christmas. So when we brought the idea of them possibly decorating the Christmas tree, they were very excited. They love helping out in every way possible, especially around the holidays!” |
The Giving Tree will stay up throughout December and will continue to be decorated as long as donations keep coming in. We hope you take the time this holiday season to visit the Giving Tree!
